Formula V6 Asia was created to provide both Asian and other International competitors, a highly cost effective platform to bridge the gap between the Junior Formulae and the highest levels of single seater racing such as GP2, A1GP and ultimately Formula 1. In the three years since its introduction, it has captured the interest of the Asian motorsport scene with its technologically advanced machines.

The Formula V6 Asia cars are equipped with a 3.5 litre engine developing close to 400bhp, carbon fibre monocoque, HANS system, left-foot braking, steering wheel-mounted sequential gearshift and wheel restraints.

The drivers hail from various parts of the world and in the past the series has seen entries from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America.

This Series allows drivers the opportunity to race on some of the best circuits in Asia and to be a part of the leading motorsport event in Asia, the Asian Festival Of Speed. With its aim of increasing performance whilst limiting costs, the Formula V6 Asia is the choice for all serious single-seater drivers in Asia.

Indian driver, Karun Chandhok won the championship in its inaugural season and was launched to great success in GP2, whilst at the same time landing a testing role with the Red Bull Formula 1 Team. In 2007, the series was finally won at the last race by Briton, James Winslow after a season long battle against Indian hopeful, Armaan Ebrahim. Last year, Thailand driver James Grunwell claimed the Championship win after beating fierce rival and up and coming superstar New Zealander, Earl Bamber who was sidelined due to his commitments in A1GP and GP2 Asia.
