About AFOS - Asian Festival of Speed

The Asian Festival of Speed is recognised regionally and internationally as the premier Asian motorsport event, comprised of four powerful FIA-Sanctioned race series, GT Asia Series, JK Racing Asia Series, Asian Touring Car Series and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

Each series captures the interest of a different group of motorsport enthusiasts and together, they are able to provide a chance to witness the rising stars of Asian Motorsport tackle leading drivers and Teams from all around the globe in one action filled, power-packed Asian Festival Of Speed (AFOS) weekend.

This season will see drivers from no less than 21 countries, Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Taipei, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America. In the past, drivers such as Takuma Sato (F1), Alex Yoong (A1GP & F1), Narain Karthikeyan (A1GP & F1), Karun Chandhok (F1), Franz Engstler (WTCC), Daniel Ricciardo (British F3 & F1) Daisuke Ikeda (Super GT), Fariqe Hairuman (Super Taikyu), and along with many others, were all participants in AFOS.

The AFOS championships constitute a year-round marketing opportunity, providing sponsors with high brand visibility. The variety and intensity of the racing ensures increased spectator and media interest year on year. In recent years world renowned manufacturers such as Porsche, BMW and Renault have collaborated with Motorsport Asia Ltd in establishing one make race Series’ in the Region, recognizing the opportunity that AFOS represents in one of the fastest growing areas of the world and utilizing AFOS as a platform for their marketing strategies.

At each venue, there are other attractions to entertain the crowd during the AFOS events. The AFOS organiser, Motorsport Asia Ltd, ensures that these side events and activities further enhance the spectator experience at the track. Side events include Car Club Gatherings, In-Car-Entertainment Shows, Autoshows, Automotive exhibitions and booths, games and activities, and lucky draws.

This year, AFOS will head to twelve different circuits around Asia and once again the event will attract great media attention at each venue.

The AFOS TV programmes are regularly broadcast to over 612 million potential viewers in more than 100 countries around the world. Over 250 publications worldwide carry regular reports from all AFOS events.

Today, Motorsport Asia and AFOS are synonymous with motorsport development in Asia and are at the cutting edge of future regional expansion.

AFOS Media comprises of PR and Media Relations, TV production and Distribution and operation of the afos.com website. These avenues are utilized to reach the masses through the relationships built with Broadcasters, media outlets and publications.

AFOS produces a series of one-hour programmes which are aired over the Star Sports and Ten Sports networks Pan Asia as well as multiple terrestrial channels in China, South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe, covering an estimated 1.7 billion households and a total cumulative audience of 223,013,003*.

Through the years, AFOS has seen phenomenal growth in media coverage and media attendance received.

News of the event is regularly carried in 297 publications, in 10 main languages, recording a total coverage worth an astonishing US$10.2 million, (not inclusive of advertising value).

The increase in awareness of the AFOS events is in part due to the internet and its growth as a media. The afos.com website updates readers on the latest news, results, championship standings, race schedules, calendar, circuit information, rules & regulations, TV listings and other relevant information. Information and background of the drivers is also available on the site.

Further improvements are being made to the site to bring exclusive audio interviews from the circuit, video race footage, press conferences and promo videos.
