Sepang Circuit will now host the Season Finale of the JK Racing Asia Series.

The Series organiser, Motorsport Asia, has confirmed that the finale, originally scheduled to be held on the 25th-27th November at Buddh International Circuit (BIC), will now be moved to Sepang International Circuit.

The JK Racing Asia Series ran successfully at BIC last month as part of the inaugural 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of India event. The drivers, teams and all those involved were looking forward to returning to the fantastic circuit, but the decision to move venues was made after the Jaypee Sports International, owner of the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, earlier this week expressed their inability to stage the event owing to unexpected maintenance work.

“We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold the final event of the JK Racing Asia Series at the Buddh International Circuit. Following the success of the recent Formula 1 event, the drivers and teams were definitely looking forward to returning to this new and exciting circuit. We will now have to wait for next season” said David Sonenscher, CEO of Motorsport Asia Ltd.

The Season Finale of JK Racing Asia Series was scheduled to run together with the Finale of JK Tyre National Racing Championship, a National level race Series by JK Tyre & Industries. It would have been the first time that the two Series were staged together and would have been an outstanding Season Finale for both JK Tyre & Industries sponsored Series’. It was a muchawaited event for motorsport enthusiasts in the National capital, as the next big event in less than a month after the inaugural Indian Formula One Grand Prix.

“The joint staging of the JK Racing Asia Series and JK Tyre National Racing Championship at the Buddh International Circuit would have provided an opportunity for domestic drivers to catch the eye of talent scouts of the international series. It is a bit disappointing, but then the show must go on and we have started work on the alternate arrangements” said Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Head, Corporate Communications & Motorsports, JK Tyre & Industries Limited

The JK Tyre National Racing Championship will now be moved to Chennai and held at the Madras Motor Race Track on 26th and 27th November. The FIAsanctioned JK Racing Asia Series cannot be held in Chennai as the MMST track is not homologated.

The JK Racing Asia Series Season Finale will now be held at Sepang International Circuit as part of the annual Sepang 100KM (S1K) endurance race series from 1-3 December 2011. Full schedule will be announced as soon as it is available.
