|2012 JK Racing Asia Series set to Kick off in Malaysia|
The opening event for the 2012 JK Racing Asia Series has been confirmed at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia on the 25th to 27th May 2012, where the first four Rounds of the 16-race season will be held.
“Its always good to have our opening event at Sepang. As the majority of the Teams are based there, most of the new drivers would have tested at the Malaysian track and so it creates a more level playing field for the start of the Season” said David Sonenscher, CEO of Motorsport Asia.
He continued, “There will be four Rounds over the weekend and as always conditions will be extreme, which can be hard for the first time racers, but Sepang is a unique challenge and so we see it playing a vital part in the development of our young drivers.”
Immediately following this, the Series will head to Europe for the first time ever to compete on two of the most historic and legendary race circuits in the world, Paul Ricard (Le Castellet) in the South of France, followed by Spa- Francorchamps in Belgium.
“The teams and drivers are all excited to go over to compete in Europe, tackling the unbelieveable Signe corner at Ricard and heading into Eau Rouge at Spa will be an experience for them like no other.” He said.
The JK Racing Asia Series was won last year, by Austrian Lucas Auer nephew of Formula 1 legend Gerhard Berger. Auer has now progressed to Euro F3.
