Despite a fire in the front left-hand side of Darryl O'Young's new SEAT Leon 1.6T, costing him the entire Race of Italy in Monza, the Hong Kong number one driver insists he is okay with the incident and is already looking forward to the next WTCC race in Valencia. Competing for the first time with his new team Special Tuning Racing (STR), O'Young has already overcome an engine failure during the qualifying session, and the stewards without penalty approved an engine change as the recent Bathurst 12 Hours winner continued his preparation for the WTCC season opener. However, flames were then spotted coming from the No.20 car three minutes into the warm-up session prior to round one. The Hong Kong driver pulled up at the Ascari corner and marshals were able to douse the flames. "I am 100% ok but unfortunately my car isn't. I am already looking forward to the next race in Valencia, the entire team at STR and SEAT Sport are extremely motivated to move past this and aim for a victory in Spain," said the unharmed 31-year-old driver, who walked away from his car without aid after the accident. The incident pulled O’Young out of the race, but the STR driver will be back for the next race in Valencia, in three weeks time. Sponsors LKM and A-Ha Coffee are the major forces behind Darryl’s pursuit of success in the 2012 FIM World Touring Car Championship.
