DRIVER UPDATE : F.BMW Pacific : Axcil Jeffries

Axcil Jefferies is growing in confidence ahead of next month's (7-9 September) Formula Two rounds at the Hungaroring after picking up his fifth successive points finish of the season last time out.

The 18-year-old Zimbabwean, only the second African to have competed in the series, has bounced back from a luckless start to his maiden F2 season which saw him come away empty handed from his first three races.

However, a superb drive in the sodden second race at Spa back in June gave him his first top 10 result and since then he has gone from strength to strength, recording a further four points finishes including a best of eighth.

"After my top 10 at Spa, I was happy to score points in both races at Brands Hatch and continue where I left off, especially as the weekend was the hardest of my 13-year career!" said Jefferies, who was watched that weekend by the Zimbabwean Ambassador to Britain Gabriel Machinga. "Each time I am in the car, I am learning and improving," he continued.

"I learnt a lot at Paul Ricard too with all the passes and dicing we had. It was good fun, and we are progressing well. I know the fans want a podium, and it will come soon. I am giving 100% and can't wait to step up to the podium, but we must all be patient. We now have a break before the next event in Hungary and I hope to travel home for a rest."

He added: "Once again I must give a big thank you to all the Zimbabweans who have supported me and waved flags at the circuits, as well as my sponsor Afri-Hype for making all this possible."

The next F2 rounds take place at the Hungaroring, Budapest, on 7-9 September.
