Pacific`s First Test Session with Young Karting Star

After a long off-season, the Pacific Racing Team was revamped with new team personnel and equipment, for an all-out assault on the 2010 Formula BMW Pacific Championship.

New signings include most notable Patrick Roberts, whom is widely acknowledged as the leading race engineer in the region. With the expertise and technical know-how of their new lead team engineer, the only thing left was to sign a top young driver to develop and turn into future Formula BMW champion for the Pacific Racing team.

The team’s principal, Ng Wai Leong, who was also a Formula Asia Champion in the past, has been developing a 16 year old talent in the Malaysian and Asian Karting scene with much success, and Chang Mun Shien was deemed the best candidate for the seat.

The first official test session, held at the Sepang International F1 Circuit on January 4th to the 10th was the first opportunity for the team to gel together, and for Chang to get up to speed against some formidable competition in the form of other more established Formula BMW teams and drivers. Despite his inexperience he proved why he deserves to be in Formula BMW Pacific series by setting times that are worthy of putting him the top half of the field in only his first attempt.

The next session will be held on February 8th to 14th, and Chang will aim to further improve his pace and get himself to the front of the pack in time for the season opener held during the Formula One event here at Sepang in April.
